Any idea what the spread of vote-with-party might be for GOPers and Ds on average might be, for comparison purposes?I mean, he's clearly more of an independent thinker than, say, any of the representatives from Texas, but it'd be interesting to see a histogram of vote-with-party percentages.

"...he's clearly more of an independent thinker than, say, any of the representatives from Texas..."Just out of curiosity, don't you think it's possible to be an independent thinker who agrees with a major political party much of the time? Or is "independent" now a synonym for "deviant"?

OK, I admit I was just mentally editing Paul out of the Texas stats.Mostly I was thinking of Sam Johnson, who bragged about how well he voted with the party.

As we approach the sixth anniversary of the tragic events of 9/11 it is important for the sake of the victims of the terrorists attacks, and for the sake of preventing such a disaster from happening ever again that we remember what happened on that day, however it is even more important that we remember correctly how the events happen.Unfortunately (and yet, predictably) there exist certain factions in this country, and across this world who actively seek distort the reality of what happened on that fateful day. Although in membership in the beginning of the 9/11-Conspiracy moment was limited to those who wished to promote their anti-capitalist and anti-Semitic agendas, in recent years these ideas have spilled out into the mainstream with the help of internet memes such as Loose Change. Although in first glance, the claims of the 9/11 Truth Movement seems to be meticulously researched, upon closer inspection the theories fall apart. The conclusions of are not one reached through scientific reason by through the use of out-of-context quotes, fuzzy science, and lies by omission.
Did 9/11 happen exactly how we believed to happen? Most likely not; it took years after the Titanic sinking and the Hindenburg explosion to find out the engineering specifics of what made the disasters happen. However, when the day comes we find out the true “truth” behind what happened on 9/11 it is more likely to be something benign in nature when compared to the improbable concepts such as controlled demolitions, unpiloted planes, and phone calls using digitally altered voices of the passengers of the planes.
The events of 9/11 was horrific enough; to pervert the memory of those who died that day and the lessons that could be learned from that terrible, terrible event by yielding to conspiracy mongers only serve to compound what was already a horrible tragedy.
